How to Use Cydia on the iPhone 3G

Cydia is an application that is automatically installed on your iPhone as part of the jailbreaking process. Cydia is an alternative to Apple's App Store and features thousands of free and paid applications you can download and install on your iPhone. Cydia is available only on jailbroken iPhones. Jailbreaking your iPhone is the process of removing locks placed on the iPhone by Apple. While jailbreaking your iPhone is not illegal, it does violate the terms and conditions of Apple's warranty.

Things You'll Need

• Jailbroken iPhone
• Wi-Fi or cellular data connection

Instructions

1. Tap the "Cydia" icon on your iPhone's home screen.

2. Select the "Search" option. Type the name or description of the Cydia application you want to download and install in the search bar. Press the blue "Search" button. Alternatively you can select the "Sections" icon to search for applications by category. Tap the category of the type of application you want. Applications are listed alphabetically within each category section.

3. Select the application you want. Click the blue "Install" button.

4. Confirm that you want to download and install the application.

5. Wait while Cydia downloads and installs the application. Cydia will prompt you once the installation is complete.
