How to Change a 1993 Honda Civic Wiper Blade

Windshield wipers make it possible to drive during stormy weather. Like many other vehicle components, the wiper blades can wear out over time and need replacement. Worn out wiper blades have reduced effectiveness and can eventually even damage your windshield. Replacing the windshield wiper blades on your 1993 Honda Civic is very similar to replacing the wiper blades on any other vehicle and you can perform the simple maintenance yourself. Changing the wiper blades only requires about 10 minutes.

• Replacement windshield wiper blades

Instructions

1. Pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until propped in the raised position.

2. Pivot the wiper blade 180 degrees so that the rubber part of the wiper blade is facing upward.

3. Press and hold the wiper blade tab, at the hinge where the wiper blade meets the wiper arm.

4. Slide the wiper blade towards the wiper arm to remove the wiper blade.

5. Compare the old wiper blade to the replacement wiper blade, ensuring that the replacement is the correct size for your 1993 Honda Civic. The blades should be the same length.

6. Position the new wiper blade so that the rubber part of the wiper blade is facing upward, much like the old blade before you removed it.

7. Insert the tab in the center of the new wiper blade into the J-shaped hook on the wiper arm and slide the wiper blade away from the arm until it locks in place.

8. Pivot the wiper blade 180 degrees so that the rubber part of the wiper blade faces the vehicle windshield.

9. Lower the wiper arm slowly. Repeat process on the other wiper blade.

Tips & Warnings

• Replace both wiper blades at once for even wear and to minimize streaking patterns.
