How to Print Large Photos on 8-by-11 Paper
If you love taking photographs and have a good quality printer at home, you can save time and money by printing your pictures yourself. Just about any picture that you take with your camera can be printed to a larger size. The quality of your camera and the resolution of your pictures will determine how clear your 8-by-11 pictures will be. If you are printing a low-resolution picture, the image will not be as sharp once it is enlarged to 8-by-11 inches, but this would be the case even if you had the picture printed by a professional photo developer. For the best results, print pictures shot at a high resolution.

Locate the image file on your computer or storage device that you would like to print.. Open the file

Load the photo paper into your printer tray. Follow the instructions on the package of photo paper to ensure that you load the paper correctly.

Right click on the picture and choose "Properties." Look to see what the resolution of the picture is. According to Hewlett Packard, in order to print a high quality 8-by-11 photo, you will need a resolution at least 900-by-720 pixels. If the resolution of your image is lower than this you can still print the picture, but the resulting print will likely not be as sharp as you would like.

Select "Print" from the menu and a new window will appear that says "Photo Printing Wizard." Select "Next" and then choose the pictures that you would like to print by clicking the little box to the top right of the picture.

Choose "Next" again and then select the printing preferences. Change the orientation to accommodate the picture. Your options for orientation are landscape (for horizontal pictures) or portrait (for vertical pictures.) Change the paper size to 8-by-11.

Select "OK" to print your picture.
