Instructions

    • 1

Lay the tablecloth over your table and make sure it is even on all sides with no excess fabric hanging on the floor. Unroll several yards of tulle to work with. A good idea is to measure the perimeter of your table and unroll three times as much tulle. Cut it free from the roll.

    • 2

Lay a strand of mini-lights at the fabric's edge and roll the tulle forward so that the lights become wrapped inside it. Bind the lights to the fabric at either end (string, rubber bands, twist ties, etc.) to avoid movement while hanging. You can also wrap the lights around the tulle, but keeping them inside the fabric gives a softer appearance.

Attach the tulle to the tablecloth by pinning it in place with a T-pin, a pin in the shape of a T. There should be a tail of tulle that goes from the table top to the ground to use as your measuring point. Swag the tulle around the table, securing it with T-pins along the way. Swagging means to drape the tulle in short "U" shapes along the outside, securing it to the tablecloth at each top point of the "U" shapes.

Attach the final swag so that it ends where your pinning began and let the tail hang down. Cut off any excess material that goes past the floor. Attach your large decoration such as a bow, flowers or ornaments so that they cover the area at the top of the tails. This hides the double pin and cleans up the look.

Unbind the ends of your tulle/light strand. Now that the strand has been secured to the table via T-pins, it is safe to unbind the ends of your strand. Be gentle so that the lights stay tightly wrapped.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is best to use battery-powered light strands so you will not have to position the tables near a wall and worry about where to have the plug come out of the tulle.
