How to Wash Fine Hair
Fine hair is often thin and flat in appearance, difficult to style and easy to tangle. Washing fine hair can result in several knots that are difficult to work out without damaging the follicles. Additionally, washing fine hair often results in a greasy and oily texture and appearance. According to Robert Vetica, Debra Messing and Salma Hayek, authors of "Good to Great Hair," you should wash fine hair in a specific way to make it more manageable, add volume and reduce tangles. Washing fine hair is an easy process that requires only a few minutes and some simple hair supplies. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wet your hair in the shower with warm water. Showering, rather than taking a bath, will reduce tangles that occur from washing fine hair.
-
2
Place shampoo into the palm of your hand. If you have short hair, a dime-size drop should suffice. However if you have longer hair, you might require a quarter-sized drop or larger.
-
-
3
Rub your hands together to spread the shampoo evenly over both. Begin to work the product into your hair, beginning at the roots and working down to the tips. Allow the shampoo to sit for two minutes.
-
4
Rinse the shampoo from your hair with cool water. According to Philip Kingsley, author of "The Hair Bible," cool water will add more of a shine to your hair.
-
5
Repeat the process with conditioner, leaving it to set for three minutes instead of two. Ensure all the conditioner is washed from your hair, lest it weigh it down and cause it to appear oily.
-
6
Squeeze excess water from your hair before stepping out of the shower.
-
7
Pat your hair with a towel, but do not dry it completely.
-
8
Spray the hair with a leave-in conditioner and wrap it up in a towel until it is mostly dry. When you take the towel off your hair, softly brush it to remove tangles.
