How to Add Wedding Gown Trains
You have found the perfect wedding gown, but it does not have the train you were hoping for, or maybe you wish to add a piece of an heirloom dress to your gown. With specialty fabrics and embellishments, you can create your own train to add to your wedding gown. You have the option of selecting the specific length of your train. Disguise the addition with a bow or lace. Make it appear as if you bought it with the custom train. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Fabric, lace and/or tulle
- Satin buttons and loops or snaps
- Bow(s) or lace
- Beads, pearls or crystals

Buy fabric, lace and/or tulle to match the style and color of your current (train-free) wedding gown. Purchase enough materials to create the train length you desire. Choose from a chapel length (long) or a sweep length, which just sweeps the floor, laying one foot longer than the gown's hem.

Add attachments to the lower waist of the gown on the backside. This ensures that the train securely connects to it. Use satin buttons and loops, or use snaps that can be hidden.

Hide your snaps or buttons if you wish to give the illusion that the train was originally a part of the wedding gown. Use a bow (or multiple bows) or lace.

Add embellishments or appliques to your custom-made wedding gown train. These can include beads, pearls or crystals. Another option is to use only lace or only tulle to create a completely lace or tulle train.
