How to Plan a Mexican Fiesta Party
Whether you have Mexican roots or just want to do a little something different, a Mexican fiesta party is good option if you want an event that's colorful and fun. Don't wait until the last minute though - there's a lot to do to plan a fiesta. Create vibrant invitations with a fiesta theme, such as colorful pinatas or Mexican flags. Send these invitations out at least a month in advance and ask for RSVPs. Knowing how many people are coming in advance makes it easier to plan the party.

Decide what kind of food you will feature at the party, such as a taco bar, quesadillas or fajitas. If you plan to cook the items yourself, create a list of recipes and work up a grocery list, and set aside some time shortly before the party to cook all the food and get it set up. If you want to have the event catered, contact a local Mexican restaurant and ask if they can provide food that day. Find out up front how much they charge and what services they provide before signing up for the service.

Buy decorations and set them up the day before the party if possible. Go to a costume store to find items such as sombreros, or visit a party store to buy red, green and white crepe paper to hang around the room. Buy or make a pinata and fill it with candy or prizes to provide entertainment for everyone. Or use a sombrero you bought at a costume store and play the Mexican Hat Dance, which gets everyone involved by clapping and dancing and shouting "ole!"

Shop at a local music store for Mexican-themed music that you can play on a stereo system or a computer. Or, shop online on websites such as iTunes for specific Mexican songs and create a playlist that you can play all throughout the party, making sure you have enough music to last the entire length of time you plan to have the party.
