How to Erase a BlackBerry 8300

Before selling or trading in a BlackBerry 8300, erase all of your user data from the phone, including personal contact information, passwords and notes. You can also delete all user data to reset the 8300 to its original factory configuration. Completely erasing data from your BlackBerry 8300 will also remove data services that you ordered as part of your cellular plan, such as Web and email.

      Power on the BlackBerry 8300 and push the "Menu" button, located left of the trackball.

      Push the trackball in on "Options" from the main menu.

      Scroll to "Security Options," and then press the trackball.

      Scroll to "General Settings," and then press the trackball.

      Press the "Menu" button when the "General Settings" screen appears.

      Scroll to the "Wipe Handheld" option. Press the trackball.

      Click to check "Include Third-Party Applications" when prompted to delete any apps that have been installed on the BlackBerry. Scroll to "Continue" and press the trackball.

      Enter the word "blackberry" using the 8300 keyboard when prompted. All data is deleted from the BlackBerry 8300.

Tips & Warnings

  • The erase procedure removes all data. Backup your data before performing the wipe handheld procedure using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
