How to Eliminate Yucca Plants thumbnail
Eliminate yucca with an herbicide.

Yucca plants add unique texture to home gardens. However, yucca plants can also grow out of control and steal nutrients from other plants, strangling them until they are dead. Yucca plants also can be a nuisance if you have children because their leaves have sharp ends that can cause an injury if someone brushes against them. Though yuccas are tough plants, you can easily eliminate them if you use a broad-spectrum herbicide. Does this Spark an idea?

Keep an eye out for unwanted seedlings once you eliminate your yucca and kill them by either pulling them out by hand or using the same method if they are large enough.

Tips & Warnings

  • This method is most effective if implemented during the growing season, in spring and summer. Texas A&M University recommends that you use the herbicide Remedy for this method, but not Remedy RTU.

  • Do not use this remedy on yucca plants when they are wet. Do not get herbicide on your skin, and try not to directly inhale it.
