How to Access a Software Inventory Database

Microsoft makes it possible for users to manage their business inventories with Access, a user-friendly database application. A software inventory database allows a user to keep track of software information in one location. This is important, as it allows for rapid retrieval of licensing information in the event that the user must prove he is a legitimate software owner. Access makes it easy to view this data.

Instructions

1. Point the mouse cursor to the "File" menu and click "Open."

2. Point the mouse cursor to the "Look In" box located on the right-hand side of the window. Click "Look In."

3. Double-click the folder that contains your database. Point the mouse cursor to the database file that appears and double-click.

Tips & Warnings

• You can open frequently examined databases by clicking "File," then clicking the name of the file that appears at the bottom of the list.
