How to Record From an LCD TV
Recording television programs from an LCD TV is no different than the process of recording programs from other types of TVs. The TV is simply used as a display. It's the actual recording device, such as a DVD recorder, that does the work of capturing the video to be recorded and then recording it.
Instructions

Setup
-
1
Turn off the LCD TV before proceeding with the cable connections.
-
2
Plug the TV antenna's coaxial cable into the "RF In" port located on the back of the DVD recorder. Make certain that the conductor wire, which sticks out from the end of the coaxial cable jacket, is inserted inside the small hole in the center of the RF port. Twist the cable's screw-on connector clockwise to lock the cable to the port.

3
Connect the DVD recorder's A/V output to the corresponding A/V inputs on the TV using the set of A/V cables. If you're unfamiliar with how to perform an A/V cable connection, A/V jacks are the red, white and yellow jacks located on the rear panels of the TV and DVD recorder (there might also be an additional A/V panel located somewhere else on the device). These jacks are label "Audio R," "Audio L" and "Video," respectively. The plugs on the ends of A/V cables are color-coded to match the A/V jack to which they're to be inserted.
-
4
Switch on the LCD TV and DVD recorder.
-
5
Use the "Input" button on the TV remote control to flip through the TV's video input channels until you come to the channel assigned to the A/V source.
-
6
Open the DVD recorder's setup menu. Navigate to the "Channel Setup" section of the menu. Execute an automatic channel scan to program the DVD recorder's digital tuner to pick up local TV broadcast signals.

Tips & Warnings
Check the DVD recorder's specifications to verify that it is equipped with an internal ATSC (digital) tuner. If it's not, even if the LCD TV is equipped with an internal digital tuner, you need to hook up a digital converter box to the DVD recorder in order to record local broadcast TV. With this connection, the TV antenna connects to the converter box's "Antenna In" port. Use a set of A/V cables to connect the converter box's A/V outputs to the DVD recorder's A/V inputs. Carry on from Step 3 in the setup section.
