There are many home recipes on how to bleach hair cheaply with peroxide and ammonia. Things You'll Need

  • 1/2 oz. soy butter
  • 1/2 oz. rose hip oil
  • Soap flakes
  • 1 cup distilled water
  • 1/2 tsp. borax
  • Glass bowl
  • 2 tbsp. ammonia
  • 2 oz. peroxide
  • Spoon
  • Small bowl
  • 12-oz. glass jar

      Measure 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide into a bowl to make a bleaching paste that will effectively lighten hair.

      Add 2 tsp. of household ammonia. Stir well.

      Add pure soap flakes until a thick consistency is achieved.

      Spread a thick layer of the bleaching paste throughout your hair, whether it be on the body or head. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

      Rinse the mixture out of your hair with cool water.

      Repeat this treatment until the desired color is reached, bleaching your hair no more than twice a day. After the color is achieved, reduce the bleaching schedule to once a month.

      For a prettier smelling and looking bleach paste, add 1/2 oz. of soy butter, 1/2 oz. of rose oil, 1 cup of distilled water and 1/2 tsp. of borax to a glass bowl, then microwave it on high for three minutes or until the ingredients melt together.

      Stir in 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 2 tsp. of household ammonia. The mixture will thicken.

      Pour the warm paste into a glass jar, and let it sit uncovered until it drops to room temperature. Then, spread a thick layer of the bleaching paste throughout your hair, and let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Afterward, rinse the mixture out with cool water.
