Unlock your BlackBerry Storm from Verizon to use with T-Mobile with an unlock code.

The BlackBerry Storm is a smartphone offered by Verizon that comes equipped with push emailing, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities, in addition to many other features. If you want to use your BlackBerry with T-Mobile, you will have to remove the network lock placed on the device by Verizon Wireless. You can legally unlock your BlackBerry Storm using an unlock code.

Instructions

    • 1

      Press the "Menu" button. Tap "Options" followed by "Status." Locate your International Mobile Equipment Identifier (IMEI) number from the status menu. Write this number down.

      Dial "611" from your BlackBerry Storm and follow the prompts to speak with a Verizon representative. Verify your wireless account (if applicable) and ask the representative to provide you with the unlock code for your BlackBerry Storm.

      Provide the representative with the IMEI number from your BlackBerry and wait for representative to generate the code. Write the code down, then disconnect the call.

      Contact T-Mobile or visit a T-Mobile store and inform the representative of your intent to activate an unlocked BlackBerry Storm.

      Provide the T-Mobile representative with the information needed to set up your account, such as your name, billing address, Social Security number and or driver's license or state-issued ID. Wait for the representative to set up your account and provide you with a SIM card and activation instructions. Note: If you set up your account over the phone, you will have to wait for the SIM card to be mailed to you to complete the unlocking process.

      Power off your BlackBerry Storm and remove the battery. Locate and remove the Verizon Wireless SIM card from the slot. Insert the T-Mobile SIM card.

      Power back on the device and press the "Menu" button. Select "Manage Connections." Select the option to turn off all connections.

      Press the "Back" button to return to the main menu. Tap "Options" followed by "Advanced Options."

      Tap the option "SIM Card." Press the "Menu" key and select "Show keyboard." Enter "MEPD." Note: You will not be able to see the letters appear on the screen, so make sure you are entering the exact phrase correctly.

      Highlight "SIM," then enter "MEP2." Wait for your phone to prompt you to enter the network MEP code. Enter the unlock code in the same manner that it was given to you by the Verizon Wireless representative. Wait for your phone to say "Code Accepted."

      Return to the home screen and press the "Menu" key. Tap "Options" followed by "Manage Connections." Select the option to turn on connections. The network on the top of the screen should change from Verizon to T-Mobile.

      Follow the activation instructions provided by T-Mobile to activate your device.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can purchase an unlock code from a cell-phone unlocking company, if you are unable to retrieve the code from Verizon.

  • The BlackBerry Storm gives you 252 tries to enter the right unlock code. If you use up all of your tries, the device will be locked to Verizon indefinitely.

  • Unlocking your BlackBerry Storm may void your wireless contract with Verizon.
