How to Repair a Bass Boat Windshield

Bass boat windshields can be treated and repaired using the same techniques applied to automobile windshields. Cracks in the window can be filled professionally or by using a simply epoxy repair kit. The level of damage will determine whether the window can be repaired or should be replaced. Small cracks are easily repaired, and long cracks only require a small amount of extra attention. Missing segments and shattered glass must be replaced with a new piece.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the boat in a shaded area. Locate the crack or cracks that will be repaired. Place a small piece of masking tape above the crack to mark the location.

    • 2

Clean the area around the crack with a basic window cleaning solution and a rag. Wipe all of the dirt from the cracked area.

    • 3

Place the repair disc on the end of the crack. Place the needle of the epoxy syringe through the hole in the center of the disc.

    • 4

Pull up and down on the syringe while sliding the disc down the length of the crack. Stop when the end of the crack has been reached. Use a rag to carefully remove any epoxy that has spilled outside of the crack.

    • 5

Park the boat in the sun for one hour to allow the epoxy to cure. The crack should no longer be visible.

Tips & Warnings

  • Place pressure on the inside of the window with your hand. This will flex the glass and allow the epoxy to set deep in the crack.

  • Only fill one crack at a time. Repairing multiple cracks may cause you to brush against a completed repair and smear the epoxy.
