How to Remove Hard Water Spots
Hard water can leave hazy, white spots on dishes, fixtures, counters and other surfaces with which it comes into contact. This is due to the fact that hard water contains minerals such as calcium and magnesium that create a film on surfaces and reduce the effectiveness of soaps. You can remove hard water spots fairly easily using inexpensive household products. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Vinegar
- Spray bottle
- Sponge or cloth
- Baking soda
- Small bowl
- Spoon
- Old toothbrush
- Lint-free cloth

Fill a spray bottle with a 50-50 solution of warm water and vinegar. Spray it onto the stained area. If the spot is on a smaller item that can be submerged, place it in a container with the vinegar and water solution. Allow the vinegar and water to remain for 5 to 10 minutes.

Add several tablespoons of baking soda to a small bowl. Stir in enough water to make a paste.

Apply this paste to the stained area with a clean, old toothbrush, using circular motions.

Rinse well and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Do not use vinegar or other acidic products on natural stone surfaces.
