Voice mail is a common cellphone option.

If you're always on the go, then you already know how important it is for you to receive your cellphone messages. AT&T Wireless allows basic voice mail customers to have a mailbox capacity of up to 20 messages as well as 14 days of storage for saved messages. If you need more voice mail space, AT&T offers enhanced features. Sometimes initial voice mail setup can be difficult, but simple directions help.

Instructions

    • 1

Press and hold the cellphone's 1 key. That action dials you into the AT&T voice mail system so that you may begin the initial setup.

    • 2

Follow the system's prompts. For example, you will be asked to create a password that is four to 14 digits long. Choose a password that you can remember easily but that someone can't guess.

    • 3

Choose or record a greeting. You may record your own greeting or select one provided by the system.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never use the last four digits of your cellphone number, nor your whole cellphone number, as a password. It is usually the first guess of someone trying to gain unauthorized access to a voice mail.

  • Changing your password often makes unauthorized access harder to achieve.
