How to Get an Electrical License in Connecticut
If you want to work as an electrician in Connecticut, you must first obtain a license from the state. The state regulation exists to help homeowners hire reputable contractors, and to give them recourse if work is not carried out to an acceptable standard. The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is responsible for the licensing procedure. You will be required to take and pass a test before obtaining your licence.

1
Visit the website of the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection and download the appropriate application form. You can apply to be licensed either as an electrical contractor or as an electrical journeyperson. Within those two classifications there are several designations, depending on whether the work you do will be limited to low-voltage work, unlimited or specialized in line construction.

Complete the application and return it with the fee (stated on the application form) to PSI Licensure; 3210 E. Tropicana; Las Vegas, NV 89121. PSI is the agency that deals with testing and licensing for Connecticut. You must also enclose the appropriate documentation for the license you are applying for. For a journeyperson license, you must enclose your letter of apprenticeship completion certificate. If you are applying to be a contractor, attach a photocopy of your current journeyperson license.
