How to Upgrade a BlackBerry Pearl 8100 OS T-Mobile

The BlackBerry 8100 Pearl from T-Mobile can be upgraded to the 4.5 version of the BlackBerry software. Updating your Pearl to this version of the operating system will give you the latest features that BlackBerry has to offer and should fix any problems you may have been experiencing with the phone.

Things You'll Need

• USB/mini USB cable
• BlackBerry Desktop Manager

Instructions

1. Connect your phone to your computer and open the BlackBerry Desktop Software on the computer.

2. Click "Update my device" on the home screen after the computer recognizes the device. The desktop manager will show "Connected" when the phone is recognized.

3. Click "Get Update" in the pop-up window.

4. Click the check box next to "Back up your device data" if you want to store your contacts, messages and third-party software on the computer.

5. Click "Install update." Do not disconnect the phone from the computer.

6. Restore the backup file to your device after the install is complete. You will receive a notification on the computer when the installation is complete.
