How to Calibrate a Stationary Bike

How to Calibrate a Stationary Bike thumbnail
Stationary bikes reduce the risks associated with outdoor cycling.

Stationary bikes offer a suitable alternative for those wishing to get daily exercise while avoiding bicycling outside or near traffic. Stationary bikes are typically used to improve cardiovascular health and maintain a healthy weight. These bikes have grown in popularity because they allow users to move at their own pace in the comfort of their home. Stationary bikes can be calibrated via the electronic display panel between the bike's handlebars. Correct calibration of your stationary bike will allow the speedometer to generate accurate readings.

Instructions

    • 1

Plug your stationary bike into a wall outlet or use batteries, if required.

    • 2

Negotiate the electronic display menu with your plus and minus keys and choose the "D" display mode to bring up your daily odometer.

    • 3

Press the left button to bring up the stationary bike's calibration number. Use the right button to bring your bike's calibration to the number listed in your owner's manual. Numbers will vary from machine to machine (see Resources). Press the left button to exit the calibration.
