Increase Clients for Hair Stylists

Many hairstylists are self-employed, which means they rent space in a salon, but need to have their own client base in order to make money. For these men and women to increase their incomes, they need to do one of two things: increase their number of clients or raise their prices on their current clients. If you do not feel comfortable with the latter, you can follow a few marketing strategies to follow through with the former; the more clients you have, the more you'll be working and the more money you'll make.

Instructions

    • 1

Build a website that is keyword-optimized for certain key phrases, such as "hair stylist," and your town's name. This will help you rise in Google search ranks. If you don't feel comfortable with this, you may want to hire someone -- an ugly, difficult to navigate website can be worse than no website at all.

    • 2

Offer perks to people to encourage them to choose you. For example, you may offer a free bottle of conditioner, shampoo or other hair product with each client's first visit. If you're a talented hairdresser, they should keep coming back on their own once they see the results of your work.

    • 3

Offer your services in exchange for marketing. So, if you regularly work with someone who works in a nail salon, you could offer to do her hair for free in exchange for her marketing your services to her clients.

    • 4

Create a referral program. If an existing client refers a friend to you, you could offer him a free or reduced-price treatment, hair cut or other service.
