Englishman Joseph Priestley invented soda water, or club soda, in 1767, in an effort to develop a drink to prevent scurvy. In restaurant bars today, bar guns commonly disperse soda water, along with lemon lime, cola, and other sodas. You can purchase bottles of soda water at the grocery store.   1. Stain Remover

      Drizzle club soda on a carpet stain. Soak any stained clothing in the club soda. Club soda is effective at removing red wine spills from carpets or blood stains in clothing.

      Allow the soda water to set for about 15 minutes.

      Dab the soda water and stain from the carpeting with a clean dry rag, or toss the clothing in the washing machine, and wash as normal.

    Polisher

      Pour the club soda in a spray bottle.

      Spray the club soda on a surface, such as a window or sink faucet.

      Scrub the club soda dampened area with a clean, soft dry rag until the area is clean and shiny.
