Although many eyewear brands and popular department stores carry wide selections of eyewear, you still may have trouble finding a pair of glasses that look right on you and also match your style. Find an eyewear manufacturer that agrees to work with you to create a custom pair of frames for your reading glasses.

Browse popular styles of eyewear to get an idea of exactly what style you want. Choose a style that interests you. Think about materials, as well as what types of frame shapes you are looking for, according to Eyeglasses.com.

Visit the First Palette website (see Resources) to download and print a free eyeglasses template. Although these eyeglass templates are directed toward kids, for the use of craft projects, you can use the plain eyeglasses template as a guide when drawing your custom reading glasses. Make alterations to the size and shape of the basic template to create your custom look.

Place a sheet of tracing paper over the glasses template page, and use a pencil to trace the basic design with the style alterations of your choice.

Experiment with different drawings. Once you finalize the shape and style of the frames of your reading glasses, decide on colors. Use colored pencils to experiment with various colors to get a complete visual. You can also make notes on what colors you want and where you want them.

Frames are usually made of one of two materials: metal or plastic. Popular frame styles include full, half or rimless, while popular frame shapes include oval, rectangular and round.
Custom frames are expensive and take three to four weeks to be created and sent out, or to be ready for you to pick up.
