How to Pay for Domain Names

Domain names are purchased through domain registrars, domain brokers and domain owners. The domain name price differs depending on where you purchase the domain from, and whether you are the first registrant for the domain or if you are purchasing an already registered domain from another person.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the frequently asked questions or support page for the domain registrar that you are purchasing the domain from. These sections list all of the payment options available, although this information is also usually found on the home page for the registrar.

    • 2

Read the domain listing page if you are purchasing a domain through a domain reseller, domain listing agency or a domain buying Web page. The listing should indicate the type of payment options that are available through the sellers.

    • 3

Talk with the webmaster selling the domain if you are buying the domain directly from another person. Paypal is a common payment method used in direct domain transactions, although other electronic forms of payment, such as credit card transactions, are also common.

    • 4

Seek out domain leasing or financing services for larger domain purchases. Some high priced domains may be leased from the owner or you can use financing to spread the cost of the domain out over months or years.
