How to Remove the Data Package From an iPhone
Until recently, an iPhone user could not have a wireless contract with AT&T without purchasing a data plan. Data plans vary in price, but can cost more than $30 per month. For users who don't use the Internet with their iPhone, or use the Internet rarely, the data plan was an unnecessary monthly charge. Thankfully, iPhone owners can now remove the data plan from their current wireless plan and still use the phone's other features.

I think this information is probably incorrect. A data plan is a requirement for smartphones with ATT and the other carriers. -

I doubt this is true. ATT is ridiculously obtuse about their data plans for their smartphones. I asked Cust service twice about this and they vehemently denied the option. Has anyone else been successful with this?
