How to Repair Luggage Handles

Luggage handles are easy to replace.

Your luggage gets some rough treatment when traveling, especially the moving parts like wheels and retractable handles. If your luggage is still under warranty, you can send it off to be repaired by the manufacturer. If it isn't under warranty, third party services can do the repairs for you, but replacing the handle is one of the things you can do yourself to extend the life of your luggage.

• Screwdriver
• WD-40 or other lubricant

Replacing Your Damaged Handle

1. Purchase a replacement handle. Replacement parts may be ordered from several websites or from the manufacturer. Make sure to get the correct handle for your make and model of suitcase.

2. Remove the screws from your broken suitcase handle. The handle usually has two screws at the top and two screws at the bottom. Set these aside, and remove the old handle from the suitcase.

3. Insert the new handle into the suitcase. Replace the screws you previously removed. Extend the handle and apply a liberal amount of WD-40 or other lubricant. Extend and retract the handle a few times to distribute the lubricant evenly.
