How to Access a Hidden Restore Partition

By default, Windows does not let you view hard drive partitions set as "hidden." Computer manufacturers hide partitions to avoid the possibility of overwriting any of the restore partition. You can view a hidden partition in the folder options on your Windows computer. This lets you copy, move or delete information to make room for other applications.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows-logo "Start" button in the task bar. Type "folder options" in the search text box to open the folder options settings.

    • 2

Click the "View" tab. Scroll down to the option sections labeled "Hidden files and folders." Remove the check mark labeled "Hide empty drives in the Computer folder."

    • 3

Click the option labeled "Show hidden files, folders, and drives." Click "OK" to save your settings.
