How to Increase the Range of a Car Radio
If you drive any sort of vehicle, chances are you have turned on the radio at one point or another. Chances are also good that you have been listening to a song or found an awesome radio station when suddenly the signal fades into muffled static. While this can be frustrating, you have a few options that will help increase the range of the signal that your car picks up.

1
Install a signal booster. The signal booster works by boosting the power in your car's manufactured antenna. This means that you will be able to pick up signals from further away.
-
2
Replace the existing factory installed model. Most antennas that are factory installed are of average capability. In order to get the maximum benefit from your radio, you can purchase an upgraded version of your antenna.
-

3
Move the antennae away from the engine. The engine is made from metal which means that it conducts electricity and can interfere with the signal and sound of your radio. If you tune your radio to a static channel you can often hear the engine accelerate and decelerate through your radio.

Purchase satellite radio. While this is a more expensive option compared to installing a new antenna or a booster, it will provide you with a clear signal for many stations. Since satellite radio uses a different type of signal than your standard FM radio, you are less likely to experience interference and will have more stations to choose from than with your standard FM radio.
