How to Recycle Foam Insulation
There are ways to recycle your foam insulation so that it doesn't end up in a landfill. And while there are plenty of recycling centers that accept glass bottles, finding one that accepts foam can be difficult. Most foam insulation is expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is highly flammable which reduces the ease of recycling it, causing many centers to refuse it. EPS is used to insulate houses, roofs and in the packaging of electronic products.

Contact construction companies in your area. Some construction companies use recycled insulation for building and repairing homes. And they are able to accept donations of insulation for recycling. Contact them first to make sure they are currently accepting foam donations.

Contact your city's local recycling program. Ask if they have a center that accepts foam insulation. If they are able to accept it, drop off your insulation at the designated area. If they don't have a local center, ask them for information on other statewide programs that recycle foam insulation.
