How to Troubleshoot an eMachine T2542

The eMachines T2542 is an older desktop computer. It runs on the Windows XP Home operating system, a 2.50 GHz processor and 40 gigabytes of storage. When the T2542 slows down because of a nasty virus or crippling piece of spyware, XP Home's System Restore program will fix it by resetting the computer to an older time when these problems were not present on the T2542's hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Start" button. Scroll to "All Programs." Move the mouse to "Accessories," then "System Tools." Left-click on "System Restore."

    • 2

Left-click on "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click "Next" to proceed.

    • 3

Choose a restore point on the calendar. Only go back within the last week or two and choose a date when the T2542 did not have any problems slowing down the Windows XP operating system. Click "Next" at the bottom of the screen.

    • 4

Click "OK." The computer will reboot. When it does, click "OK" when System Restore says the restoration has been completed.
