A clear sky and good weather ensures the best quality and strength for your satellite signal.

DirecTV provides a high-quality satellite television service to millions of users. When you first received the service, a technician came out to your home and set everything up. You may have not noticed how he set up the service, so when your satellite signal goes out, it's frustrating. With a few simple troubleshooting steps, you can find your signal again and restore it to normal working condition. This requires access to the receiver box and satellite dish when necessary. In rare cases, the signal will goes out during severe weather storms and may not come back immediately.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off your receiver on or near the television. Unplug the receiver entirely so no power goes to the unit. Wait 15 seconds, then turn the receiver on after plugging it back in.

    • 2

Check the receiver unit's connecting cables. Feel and look for any loose cables or connecting pieces. Start with the SAT-IN connection, as this cable receives the signal from the satellite.

    • 3

Go outside to your Direct TV satellite dish. Make sure no objects are blocking the satellite's line of sight with the sky. If anything interferes with the line of sight, move the object away from the dish.

    • 4

Call DirecTV technical support if your satellite signal problem persists.
