How to Update the MSN Toolbar
With most any software, it is important to install updates to ensure that the program continues to work properly and can access new features. This is especially vital with programs that connect to the Internet, as they may include safety features that will help keep your computer virus- and spyware-free. If you're using the MSN Toolbar, you'll want to install the most up-to-date version to get the most out of your browsing experience.

1
Open your Internet Explorer and look for your MSN Toolbar under the address bar of your browser.
-
2
Click the "MSN icon" on the toolbar, and then click on "Toolbar Options." A window should pop up with different customization settings for the toolbar and its functionality.

3
Select the option in the settings window for "Auto Update." This is a process that will run while you are browsing the Internet and find any available or required updates for your software. You may have the option to install these updates automatically or receive notifications when updates are available.
When you receive a notification of an available update, there will usually be information about what is improved in this version of the toolbar. Read this over to determine if the update will include features or security improvements that will benefit you.

4
Access MSN's Toolbar website (see Resources). If you have not received a notification or automatic update but want to know if you have the most up-to-date version of MSN Toolbar, you can find out using this site.
-
5
Navigate to the toolbar download page. If there is an option for downloading an update, do so. If not, attempt to download the toolbar from scratch again by choosing "Download Free Now" or "Get Bing Now." While downloading, the program will inform you if you have the most updated version already on your system.

Tips & Warnings
The MSN Toolbar is only available for Windows 95, 98 or XP. The new version may be referred to as "Bing Toolbar" or "Bing Bar" for Windows Vista or 7. This should also include automatic update options under the settings menu.
Updates may install the toolbar into other Internet browsers you have, such as Firefox and Chrome. Look for options during installation to remove these features.
