1
Dust the surface of the wood so that you have a clean surface. Wash it with an oil soap or other wood cleaning product if it is soiled or stained.
-
2
Paint the wood surface with the color of acrylic paint that you want to show through in the crackle finish. Allow it to dry according to the paint directions.
-
-
3
Spread a layer of glue onto the wood surface. Do not allow the glue to dry.
-
4
Paint the second color on the entire wood surface. This paint will start to crackle and give the wood an Old World appearance as it dries.
-
5
Cover the entire surface with another layer of the school glue once it is completely dry. This will give it a clear seal and protect the finish.

Tips & Warnings
You can use any two colors you like on the wood surface. Black with a brown topcoat is effective for most antiques, although you can use a baby blue bottom coat with an off-white top coat for a different type of look. Experiment on a scrap piece of wood to find the best color combination for your needs.
