How to Troubleshoot a Sylvania Digital TV

Check that all of the cables are connected if there's no picture or sound.

Sylvania was a pioneer in the light bulb industry and rebuilt broken light bulbs from 1901. The company moved on to light bulb manufacturing and merged with Osram in 1993. The company's line-up today includes consumer electronics, such as digital televisions, sold under the Sylvania brand. Problems with a Sylvania digital TV can include issues with power, lack of picture or sound, poor picture and sound and image distortion.

Instructions

1. Plug the Sylvania digital TV into a power outlet if there's no power. Look for lights to illuminate on the unit. If the TV is plugged in but no lights come on, unplug the TV for one minute and plug it back in again; this will reset it.

2. Check that all of the cables are connected at the back of the television if there's no picture or sound but the unit's lights have come on. Make sure that any source you are using, like a cable box, is also switched on and is supplying a picture. Toggle through the "Input" settings on the Sylvania's remote until a picture appears. If the source is a computer, make sure it's not in "Sleep" mode by wiggling the mouse.

3. Look for electrical interference if there's sound but the picture is poor. Distortion on the screen can often be caused by interference. Turn off electrical equipment nearby and see if you can eliminate the interference. Turn the devices back on one by one and you should see what's causing the issue.
