DIY Component Switch

Component cables are high-definition data cables that are used to connect high-definition audio/visual devices, such as Blu-Ray players, to televisions. If you wish to send the signal from a single device to several televisions, you can do so by making a makeshift Component switch out of Component splitters; as long as you have enough cables and splitters, you can easily make a switch.

Things You'll Need

  • Component splitters (at least three)
  • Component cable (at least four sets)

Connect one of your Component splitters to the Component ports on your HD device.

    • 2

Connect the other two Component splitters to the two Component ports on the first splitter. You now have four available Component ports coming from a single device.

Connect one end of the four sets of component cables to the four ports on the Component splitters. You can now connect the other end of these cables to televisions in order to properly send the signal.
