How to Place Grass Pavers
Grass pavers are made of many different types of materials, including HDPE plastic and cement. They provide the same strength that a paved driveway would offer but with the beauty of grass. Grass pavers are easy to install and perfect for use in driveways, paths, flooring for outdoor buildings and access roads. They offer erosion control and help stabilize the ground on sloping or slanted areas. You can fill the pavers with seed, sand or other material so they blend in with your landscaping. 1
Draw a rough sketch of where your pavers will go. Plan ahead so that you know how many feet of pavers you will need and if any will need to be cut.
-
2
Use a backhoe or a shovel to dig out the sod. Use a tamper to ensure the ground is level before you begin to place your pavers. Dig deep enough so when you place the pavers, the top of the paver is level with the surrounding ground lines. When the pavers are installed, they should be level with the surrounding ground.

3
Place the pavers in the area that you have laid out. Stagger the seams so to provide more stability.
-
4
Cover the pavers with the native soil or a quality top soil. The soil should just cover the top of the pavers. You can also fill the pavers with gravel if you do not plan on planting grass.
-
5
Spread your choice of grass seed with a mechanical seeder. The amount you seed will depend on the type of grass that you choose. Apply 1 to 3 lbs. of Kentucky bluegrass seed for every 100 square feet of pavers. The more seed you apply, the thicker your grass will be.
-
6
Water your grass seed with 1 to 2 inches of water daily. This will provide you with a lush, green, stable area.
