How to Hang a Squirrel Baffle
Baffles are a must for anyone hanging a bird feeder that allows access to squirrels. Squirrels can make a mess by spilling seeds everywhere or even break your bird feeder by chewing through wires or plastic. Keep them out with a baffle. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Buy your preferred baffle. Most home improvement stores and online bird feeder stores sell them. Make sure you buy one appropriate for your bird feeder. There are baffles for bird feeders that hang and ones for feeders that sit on a pole.

2
Use a metal chain, long metal S-hook or heavy wire to hang your bird feeder and baffle. If you use nylon or some kind of cotton line, a squirrel will likely chew through it. If you are worried about damaging the limb that your bird feeder is hanging on, you can protect the limb by placing a split piece of garden hose or other rubber covering around the chain.

Position the baffle directly above the feeder, about two or three feet from the limb or hook that your feeder is hanging on. Attach the baffle with the appropriate screws or stoppers, according to the instructions that come with your newly purchased baffle.
