How to Replace the Exhaust Gasket for a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited
The 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited separates the Cherokee Limited from other Jeep Cherokees. However, the engines used in the Cherokee and the Cherokee Limited are the same. They both have six-cylinder engines with two exhaust manifolds. Each manifold mounts to the engine head. There is an exhaust gasket between the manifold and the engine head to prevent exhaust leaks. Due to the excessive heat that builds up in that area of the engine, the gaskets will eventually leak. When this occurs, you will need to remove the exhaust manifold and replace the gasket.
Instructions

-
1
Open the engine bay, and position yourself on the side of the engine with the leaking exhaust manifold gasket. You can remove the manifold from above the engine, so you are not required to get under the Cherokee to remove the manifold.
-
2
Remove the eight bolts that secure the exhaust manifold to the engine head with a socket and ratchet.
-
-
3
Pull the exhaust manifold backwards to remove it from the engine head studs on the engine head. The manifold is still connected to the exhaust pipe, so pulling the manifold off the studs will require effort.
-
4
Slide the old gasket off the engine head studs, and then slide the new gasket onto the studs.
-
5
Slide the manifold back onto the engine head studs and secure it using the eight bolts, socket and ratchet.

Tips & Warnings
Spray rust breaker spray onto the bolts that secure the manifold to the engine head. Over time, the bolts rust. Spraying the bolts and allowing the rust spray to sit overnight will make removing the bolts much easier.
