How to Search for Bluetooth Devices

How to Search for Bluetooth Devices thumbnail
Your Bluetooth device must be in discovery mode to search for other devices.

Bluetooth is a feature for cell phones that allows users to speak hands-free. Bluetooth devices pair with cell phones so that when on, phone calls are automatically transferred to the earpiece, thus eliminating the need to use hands to hold your phone. For a Bluetooth earpiece to work properly it must be paired with a Bluetooth-compatible cell phone. To pair a phone to a Bluetooth device, each piece of equipment must be able to locate the other.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your Bluetooth headset on to place it in pairing mode. Hold the "Answer" button on the earpiece until the screen turns blue to indicate it is in pairing mode.

    • 2

Turn your cell phone on and locate the Bluetooth application, which is located in a different place on each cell phone. Refer to your cell-phone user's manual for more information regarding your Bluetooth application.

    • 3

Scroll through the list of options in your Bluetooth application until you locate the option that allows you to turn your Bluetooth phone on and in the "Discovery" mode. At this point your phone will automatically begin searching for Bluetooth devices in the area. When the phone finds your earpiece's Bluetooth signal, the name of your earpiece will appear on the screen of your phone. You are asked whether or not you want to pair the two devices.
