How to Find New Customers for My Plumbing Business
Running your own plumbing business offers flexibility, the chance to set your own customer service guidelines, and the opportunity to specialize. However, finding new customers isn't always an easy task. You have to know where to find them, how to market to them, and how to keep them happy once you get them.

1
Advertise through traditional methods in print, TV and radio advertising. To find new customers, advertise in outlying areas, where plumbers might not be as plentiful. Advertise specials for new customers, or customers in certain counties, to generate new business.
-
2
Participate in local events, particularly those geared towards home improvement. Hand out marketing materials and conduct on-site consultations with potential new customers. Put up "before and after" photos of jobs you've done, such as re-piping, bathroom remodeling, sink and toilet installations, and any other specialty projects.

3
Establish an online presence. Many plumbing companies neglect this particular marketing strategy because of the blue-collar nature of this type of work. Showcase your tech savvy by including online appointment-setting on your website, as well as informational articles on common plumbing issues, and contact information for company reps.
-
4
Solicit for new customers via direct mail to targeted areas. You can do this via a circular in the local newspaper delivered to certain area codes, or through a mailer addressed to "Neighbor" for homeowners in your community. If you really want to stand out from other companies, consider including a magnet with your mailer bearing your company logo and contact information. This ensures that potential customers will have your contact information handy when they need a plumber.
