In 2009, digital TV was mandated by the federal government. All broadcasters stopped airing analog television signals. In order to watch TV, you must either subscribe to a television service such as cable or satellite, connect a converter box to your analog TV or upgrade to a digital TV.

      Purchase a digital TV. Older analog TVs with a converter box will work, but they are not truly digital.

      Connect an antenna to your TV. You can connect the same kind of antenna you used in the past for analog signals to receive digital signals or you can subscribe to a digital service provided by a cable or other type of provider.

      Find your channels. Use your TV's search function to browse for and locate all of your digital channels. If you are using an antenna, you might find more than one channel per number, some channels broadcast multiple sub-channels such as 24.1, 24.2 and so on. There can be four sub-channels for each channel.
