How to Get a CDA in Maryland
In the state of Maryland, an individual who intends to work with children and operate a childcare facility should obtain specific certification that applies to the job. The CDA Council website explains a licensed Child Development Associate (CDA) has completed all of the courses and assessments in order to receive the specific credentials. Obtaining CDA credentials allows the individual to participate in furthering education in order to meet the needs of children and parents. The process of becoming CDA certified is a great learning experience that nonetheless takes some time to complete.

Log on to the Internet in order to determine the credentials required to obtain a CDA. The CDA Council website explains that in Maryland an individual must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, have 480 hours of working with children in the past five years, and have 120 clock hours of formal child care education within the past five years. The 120 hours of child care education is completed through a CDA training program before the CDA assessment takes place.

The CDA Council website explains that the packets provide all of the necessary information about completing and obtaining CDA certification in the state of Maryland.

Register with a CDA training program in order to take all of the classes necessary to complete the 120 hours of child care education. The Care Courses website explains that the Care Courses School is one of many programs that assist individuals in obtaining educational classes. All of the courses offered through the Care Courses School have been evaluated and approved by the state.

Sign up to complete the classes and pay the class fees. Once the 120 hours of education class are complete, the Care Courses website explains that the individual must schedule to complete the assessment portion of the training. Renew the CDA credentials according to the state requirements. The Care Courses website explains that additional documents (as well as 4.5 Continuing Education Units) are required in order to renew and maintain CDA certification.
