How to Reactivate an Alltel Cell Phone
If you have an Alltel cell phone that you used to use with the wireless service or that you got from someone else, the phone can be reactivated at any time. While you do not have to sign up with a new contract when you reactivate an Alltel cell phone, you may be charged an activation fee. Whether or not you will be charged the fee, and how much the fee is, will be determined based on if you already have an active Alltel account or not and how much account history you have with the company.

Remove the battery cover on the back of the Alltel phone and take out the battery. Under the battery is where you will find the ESN for the cell phone. The number starts with the letter E, D or H. Write down this number.

Replace the battery and the cover for the cell phone. Charge the phone if it does not have a full battery charge.

Call Alltel at 800-255-8351and let the customer service representative know that you have an Alltel phone that you need to reactivate. If you already have an Alltel phone number, you can use that number or you can get a new number if you need one. You will need to give the representative the ESN to make the phone active on the Alltel network.

Power the phone off and then back on again when the representative instructs you to do so. You will be told to dial *228 on the phone and press "SEND." This programs your phone over the Alltel network, which takes around 60 seconds.
