How to Start Potty Training With Pull-Ups
Pull-Ups are training pants manufactured by Huggies, a disposable diaper maker. While many parents balk at the idea of using Pull-Ups, claiming they slow down the potty training process, a good deal of families owe their success to these transitional underwear products that promote potty training while reducing mess. Potty training with Pull-Ups is simple.

1
Introduce your child into the world of potty training with a fun and colorful potty book or by purchasing Pull-Ups with their favorite characters from TV shows and movies. The characters in 2010 include Toy Story 3 and Princess and the Frog. Making potty training fun and inviting is the first step toward success. Have your child wear the Pull-Up for a while each day, so she can get used to them and to eliminate any fear of not wearing a diaper.

2
Sit your child on the potty chair at the times he normally soil his diapers. Observe this pattern closely to know when the best time is to sit them on the potty chair. Switch them from diapers to Pull-Ups once you have a rough estimate of a workable potty time schedule, and explain to them the difference between diapers and Pull-Ups. This may include encouraging words, reminders of how he is no longer a baby, but now a big boy. Small rewards, such as stickers or sugar free candy, once potty time is complete will be an incentive for them to continue this behavior.

Provide grandparents, daycare, preschool workers or anyone else who will be spending one-on-one time with your child with a package of Pull-Ups. This will bring consistency to your child's potty training regime, making it happen in all aspects of life -- not just at home. Have your child give the Pull-Ups to these caretakers, so they feel involved and independent in the potty training process.

Experiment with the different Pull-Ups products to find out which one works well with your child. Night-Time Pull-Ups feature stronger absorbency. Cool Alert provides your child with a cold sensation the moment the pants become wet, so she can learn to stay dry. Finally, Learning Designs feature popular character graphics that fade when the pants are wet, thus alerting your child.

Set up an achievement system for your child, using the Reward Center found on the Pull-Ups website. From printable stickers to door hangers, there are a variety of games and rewards available for you to print and download from home.

Tips & Warnings
Be patient. There are usually set backs with potty training and every child is different. Try your best to not compare your child to others or allow yourself to get frustrated when your child has an accident.
Do not try to potty train during a hectic time of year, such as the holidays or a significant family event, such as bereavement or a vacation. All of these can place stress on the child and can hinder progress.
