How to Make a Hug Pop-Out Card
Most people will get more than 20 paper greeting cards every year, according to the Greeting Card Association. A handmade card is a way of showing thoughtfulness above and beyond choosing a card in a card shop. Sending a hug in a card is a simple project for little children, as well as a meaningful one for adults, especially if a loved one is far away. A hug pop-out card may look complicated, but it is simple and inexpensive to design.

1
Fold a piece of plain card stock in half, making sure the edges match up on all sides. Crease the center sharply.
-
2
Sketch out a head and two arms on the flesh-colored construction paper with a pencil. The arms should be at least 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. Draw a shirt on the brightly colored construction paper of you choice, making sure that the arms match up with the shirt sleeves. If desired, you can also cut out hair to go on the head.

3
Cut out the shapes carefully. Cut out two strips of flesh-colored construction paper that measure 1 inch by 10 inches.
-
4
Glue the head, hair and shirt to the center of the inside of the card. Glue the ends of the arms beneath the sleeves. Fold the arms in half so they lay over the shirt.
-
5
Fold the strips of paper like an accordion in 1-inch segments so that it has 10 segments. Glue one end to the top half of each arm, and then to the other half. This should make each arm pop-out when the card is opened.

6
Add a face and message with markers or crayons. Fold carefully and place in an envelope to present to your loved one.
