Design the motif. Rhinestone motifs come is a variety of colors, shapes in sizes. Many motifs are already created, but you can still opt to create a customized design. Custom motifs include your name, special flowers or other objects of personal interest to you.

Purchase the rhinestones. Many online stores have rhinestones for sale which are then shipped to the address you specify. If you prefer not to buy your rhinestones from an online source, different discount and specialty stores sell a wide variety of rhinestones and attachment machines.

Apply with rhinestone setting tool. Different heat setting tools are available to best suit the need of your project. Heat press machines consists of two flat plates your garment fits into and is pressed between --- be sure to keep the base and plates level. An iron is also an ideal heat-setting machine for beginners. Begin with a lower setting and work your way up to the correct temperature, using a scrap sample piece of fabric and rhinestones. The temperature mustn't exceed 250 degrees.

Exercise after-application care to your garment. Once you have added the rhinestones to your specifications and worn your garment until it needs to be cleaned, special precautions must be taken in order to ensure the longevity of your hard work. If you opt not to have the rhinestone piece dry cleaned, it can only be washed in water no warmer than 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to not bleach the garment and both wash and dry it inside out.
