      Boot up the ventilation system. Allow the system to get warmed up and functioning to its full capacity.

      Set off one smoke candle for every space up to 8 feet by 10 feet, and increase the number as needed.

      Turn on a timer after the smoke candle is lit.

    • 4

      Pause the timer when the smoke from the candles is no longer visible.

    • 5

      Make an evaluation of the time it takes for the room to clear of smoke. If it takes more than 10 minutes, the system generally will need an upgrade.

  • You can also use other objects to time the ventilation system such as smoke sticks. These types of products are available where ventilation systems are sold.
