How to Evaluate Ventilation Systems With Smoke From Candles
Ventilation systems are sometimes brought into different buildings or spaces to provide better air flow. Smoke candles are very helpful in determining whether the ventilation system is working at optimum efficiency in the area. Does this Spark an idea?

Boot up the ventilation system. Allow the system to get warmed up and functioning to its full capacity.

Set off one smoke candle for every space up to 8 feet by 10 feet, and increase the number as needed.

Turn on a timer after the smoke candle is lit.

Pause the timer when the smoke from the candles is no longer visible.

Make an evaluation of the time it takes for the room to clear of smoke. If it takes more than 10 minutes, the system generally will need an upgrade.

Tips & Warnings
You can also use other objects to time the ventilation system such as smoke sticks. These types of products are available where ventilation systems are sold.
