How to Replace the Fog Light on a 2000 BMW 328

The 2000 328i is BMW's entry level sedan that's a part of their long-running 3-Series line of cars. Many models come equipped with fog lights to help illuminate the road surface at night and in cloudy conditions. Like any other light bulb, the fog lights can burn out over time and require replacement. BMW's front bumper design fortunately makes it easy to remove the fog lights and replace the fog light's bulb. It is just as easy to replace the fog light assembly by following the same steps.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the horizontal trim piece that sits on the bottom of your 328i's front bumper by pulling it out and away. Work your way along the front of the bumper until the entire piece is removed.

    • 2

Loosen and remove the two Phillips head screws that are now exposed. They sit at the bottom of each fog light.

    • 3

Remove the trim pieces that sit on the inside edge of the fog lights by pulling them in toward the fog light.

    • 4

Pull the fog light out by pulling directly out and away from the car.

    • 5

Replace the fog light bulb that's exposed or replace the fog light assembly with your new one if you are replacing the assembly and not just the bulb.

    • 6

Install the fog light's inside-edge trim pieces by sliding them toward the center of the car until they lock into place.

    • 7

Re-install the two Phillips head screws and tighten them.

    • 8

Snap the long horizontal trim piece back into the bumper by starting from one side and working your way to the other side of the car to complete the procedure.
