How to Reset a BlackBerry 8830 World Edition Smartphone From Verizon

Verizon offers several different styles of the BlackBerry smartphone. One brand is the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition. The World Edition is set up to work globally without any problems and is also EV-DO capable. But with all its great functions, the phone can experience minor problems, like freezing. Reset your phone should you start to experience little glitches. You can reset your BlackBerry in two different ways: with a hard reset (recommended) or a soft reset.

Instructions

  1. Hard Reset

    • 1

      Remove the battery cover on the back of your World Edition phone. Do this while the phone is still powered on.

      Remove the battery by pulling it up and popping it out.

      Leave the battery out of the phone for 10 to 20 seconds.

      Replace the battery and the battery cover. Press and hold the "Power" key to turn your phone back on.

    Soft Reset

      Press and hold the ALT key on your World Edition. This key is typically located on the left side of the keypad.

      Press and hold the right shift key, located below the Enter key. Hold down the right shift key while still holding down the ALT key.

      Press and hold down the Delete key, located on the right side of the keypad, while still holding down the Shift and ALT keys. Release your fingers from the keys when the screen goes blank and the phone powers down.

      Press and hold the "Power" button after one minute to turn your phone back on.
