Instructions

    • 1

Make a starter hole in the center of the indent in the bottom of the 5-gallon bucket using the drill and 1/2 bit. Use the jig saw to cut out a 3-inch circle by placing the saw blade into the drilled hole and cutting out the indent.

    • 2

Drill four holes spaced out evenly around the bottom of the bucket using the 1/2-inch bit and drill. Holes should be drilled 2 inches off the bottom.

    • 3

Cut an "X" in the center of the two coffee filters. Place the coffee filters in the bottom of the bucket on top of the hole. The filters will prevent the soil from falling out of the hole when being filled.

    • 4

Remove the bottom four leaves from the plant seedling. Place the bucket on chair arms or on two saw horses. Place the plant up through the hole on the bottom of the bucket from the outside. Insert the plant through the "X" and hold the roots in place.

    • 5

Add the soil to the bucket slowly. When you have about 2 inches of soil in the bucket, pack it around the roots and leave go of the plant roots. Continue adding the remainder of the soil. Soil should come to within 1 inch of the top of the bucket. Water the plant thoroughly.

    • 6

Drill six to seven 1/2 inch holes in the bucket cover. Place the cover on the bucket. Hang the bucket on a hook where it will receive the correct amount of sun for the type of plant you have planted.
