How to Connect to the Console of an ESX Server

Connecting to an ESX server (or any type of server) from a Windows-based operating system is facilitated by the Remote Desktop console. Remote Desktop allows the user access to all of ESX server features, and connects to the server as though the connection is local, not remote.

Instructions

    • 1

      Log on to the Windows computer using an account with administrator's rights.

    • 2

      Click "Start" and in the "Search..." field type "MSTSC." Hit "Enter." The Microsoft Remote Desktop utility opens.

    • 3

      In the "Computer" field, type the name of the ESX server you wish to connect to.

    • 4

      Click "Connect." The connection is made to the remote ESX server.
